The Battlefields of the American Revolution USPS Forever stamps commemorate the pivotal battles that shaped the founding of the United States. Issued on April 16, 2025, the stamp pane honors five key turning points of the Revolutionary War as the nation prepares to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence.
The pane contains 15 Forever stamps arranged in five horizontal rows, with each row dedicated to one historic campaign. The featured battles are:
Lexington and Concord (1775)
Bunker Hill (1775)
Trenton (1776)
Saratoga (1777)
Yorktown (1781)
Each battle is represented through a combination of modern photographs of the battlefield or historic site and dramatic watercolor illustrations by artist Greg Harlin. The paintings span two adjoining stamps, creating panoramic scenes that bring the defining moments of the American Revolution to life. USPS art director Derry Noyes designed the pane, seamlessly blending historical artwork with contemporary photography.
The stamps were officially dedicated during a First-Day-of-Issue Ceremony at Minute Man National Historical Park in Concord, Massachusetts, in partnership with the National Park Service. The location was especially meaningful because it preserves the sites of the Battles of Lexington and Concord, widely regarded as the opening engagements of the Revolutionary War.
A notable design feature is the inclusion of a quotation from Thomas Paine in the upper-right corner of the pane: “These are the times that try men’s souls.” The famous words, taken from The American Crisis, capture the determination and sacrifice of those who fought for independence and reinforce the stamps’ commemorative purpose.
Like all Forever stamps, the Battlefields of the American Revolution stamps are valid for mailing a one-ounce First-Class Mail letter anywhere in the United States regardless of future postage rate increases. Sold in panes of 15, they appeal to both history enthusiasts and stamp collectors, serving as miniature works of art that honor the courage, perseverance, and legacy of the men and women who fought for American independence.
