Flags Coil 2023

The 2023 U.S. Flag Coil Stamp is a Forever stamp issued by the United States Postal Service (USPS) on April 10, 2023, in Freedom, Maine. The stamp honors one of the nation’s most recognizable symbols—the American flag—and continues the Postal Service’s long tradition of featuring the flag on everyday postage.

The design presents a bold image of the United States flag in red, white, and blue. Beneath the flag appears the word “FREEDOM,” emphasizing a core American value, while the inscription “FOREVER USA” appears below it. The stamp was designed by Antonio Alcalá using existing artwork created by Hong Li.

The coil version was produced primarily for businesses and high-volume mailers who use automatic stamp-dispensing equipment. USPS issued the stamp in coils of 100, 3,000, and 10,000 stamps, as well as in panes and booklets. The coil format allows stamps to be dispensed efficiently from rolls rather than sheets.

As a Forever stamp, the 2023 U.S. Flag Coil Stamp remains valid for mailing a one-ounce First-Class Mail letter regardless of future postal rate increases. At the time of issue, it paid the current First-Class Mail rate and continues to retain its full mailing value.
